Paps hilltop honey

About Us

Paps Hilltop Honey is a family business owned by Chris and Marc Lewis.
They started in 2007 with two hives. Two hives turned into six hives. Six hives turned into 21 hives. Within a few years, they had grown to over a hundred hives!
They started out by selling honey to their friends and family. Within a few years, they were selling honey at local farmers markets and festivals.
Eventually, they started selling honey to local stores and online.
In 2013, they were able to construct a building to house the harvesting and bottling of the honey. In addition, they also applied for and received a commercial kitchen license. This allowed them to expand the operation to include flavored and creamed honey. They are having fun continually developing new products for you to enjoy!
Kate also makes her soaps, lotions and candles in the building. All of her products contain honey and/or beeswax. They are truly products of our hives. She also uses all natural ingredients such as lavender, oatmeal, chamomile and other herbs.
In 2015, they opened the farm store affectionately known as Bee Commander. The new building makes the operation run much more efficiently. It also made their wives extremely happy to get all of that honey out of their kitchen!

Which one of you is Pap?

Marc and Chris get this question all the time!

  The answer is neither!

Paps Hilltop Honey is named in honor of their father Joe Lewis who passed away in 2007 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Joe was an ornery fellow from the hills of southeastern Kentucky. All of the neighborhood kids affectionately called him Pap.
He moved to southern Ohio in 1957 where he met his wife Ann. Together they raised four kids and were married for 47 years until Ann passed away in 2004. We miss them greatly.
